THE LEAD · SUBSCRIBERS ONLY
Your fall layering pieces do not all peak at the same time.
Google search data shows cropped cardigan peaks in September at 27,100 searches. Cardigan does not peak until November, at 301,000. Shawl peaks in November too, at 110,000. Shrug never really peaks at all, it holds near 60,500 from August through January.
Four pieces off the same rack. Four different listing dates.

We put the full breakdown into The Fall Keyword & Timing Guide: which term to lead the title with, which to bury in the description, and when each one opens, for the layering cluster above and the bandage dress revival running alongside it, since that one times differently.
AND THEN TELL US ONE THING
Reply to this email with the category you want the next guide on. Outerwear, denim, menswear, bags, kids. Whatever you are sitting on and cannot move. We read every reply and the most requested one gets built next.
READER WINS · THE CALLS ARE CONVERTING
One reseller ran five of our keyword calls in a row. All five sold.
We asked in the comments this week what was actually selling. Here is what came back, unedited.
"Started with grad dresses, derby, summer wedding guest and now homecoming and autumn wedding. Sold dresses within two weeks. Some were listed for over a year."
"love your content and I picked up dresses just for these queries"
Five different occasion keywords, five different months, one closet. Dresses that sat for over a year moved inside two weeks on a title change. Nothing was rephotographed. Nothing was repriced.
That is the whole argument for working the occasion calendar instead of the item. A dress is not seasonal. The word buyers type to find it is.

Google search data shows autumn wedding guest dress at 33,100 searches a month right now. Last September it hit 301,000. That is a nine times climb, and it has not started yet. The reseller above is already listed into it.
THE MOVE
Put autumn wedding guest in your dress titles this week. Knee length or longer, not white, not denim. You are ahead of the September ramp by about three weeks.
THE BOARD · THE FALL CALENDAR, IN ORDER
Buyer demand peaks at different times.
Google search data, latest pull. Ordered by when you need to act, not by size.
SIGNAL 01 · WOMEN'S DRESSES · ACT NOW
Fall dress women goes from nothing to 110,000 in six weeks.
Google search data shows fall dress women at 2,900 searches a month. Last year it went 8,100 in July, 49,500 in August, then 110,000 in September and held there through October. By December it was back to 2,900. The entire window is eight weeks long and the ramp starts this month.
It is already turning. The term moved from 1,600 in May to 2,900 in June, the first increase since January. Any dress with sleeves, any midi in a fall color, any knit dress you have been calling a sweater dress.
SIGNAL 02 · OUTERWEAR BRAND · SOURCE NOW, LIST OCTOBER
North Face puffer is 30x off its peak. That is the buy window.
Google search data shows north face puffer at 12,100 searches a month. Last October it was 201,000. Last November and December it was 368,000. This is the deepest floor to peak gap on the board and nobody is competing for these in the bins in August.
Nuptse, 1996 retro, 700 fill. Check the baffles and the pit zips for the model year. Buy them now at summer prices, list them the first week of October when the ramp turns.
SIGNAL 03 · MENSWEAR · SOURCE NOW, LIST LATE OCTOBER
Quarter zip men jumps 11x in a single month.
Google search data shows quarter zip men at 5,400 searches a month. Last October it was 12,100. Last November it was 135,000. That is an eleven times move in thirty days, the sharpest single-month step on the board.
Nothing about that jump is visible in the item. It is fleece and knit quarter zips, the most abundant menswear layer in every thrift store in the country, and the demand for it lands all at once in November. Source Patagonia, Nike Golf, Peter Millar, plain merino. Title it quarter zip, not pullover.
SIGNAL 04 · GOLF · LIST NOW, WINDOW CLOSING
The one on this board that is already peaking.
Not everything is a floor call. Google search data shows Peter Millar polo at 33,100 searches a month, up from 14,800 last June. Four straight months up: 9,900 in March, 22,200 in April, 27,100 in May, 33,100 in June. It is at a series high right now.
Generic golf polo men is flat at 3,600 over the same stretch and down 18% year over year. The brand is doing all the work, the category is doing none of it. Last year this term fell off after June, so treat this as sell-through, not a hold. If you have Peter Millar sitting unlisted, it goes up today with the brand name first in the title.
THE RECEIPTS
THE CALL · SENT TO THIS LIST AUGUST 2
We sent a one-off note telling you to change a single word in your dress titles. Fall to autumn. Google search data showed autumn wedding guest dress at 301,000 searches last September against 49,500 for fall.
WHAT HAPPENED
S. Jay wrote in the morning after that email went out: "Changed this word in a bunch of listings last night and sold a dress this morning I've had listed for 156 days. Thank you!!!"
That is the first sale we can trace to this newsletter rather than to a video. It is why the guide above is going to subscribers first.
And now you know.
