Peacoat is at the bottom. That is the buy signal.

If you’re like most of us, you’ve walked past peacoats on the rack or in the bins all summer. Keep walking for three more weeks… then stop.
Google search data shows demand peacoats at 33,100 searches a month right now. That is the exact floor it sat at this time last year. Then last year it moved. 49,500 in August. 74,000 in September. 246,000 by November. A seven times climb off this same floor.
Wool coats are a cold-weather buy with a date on the calendar, and the calendar has not turned yet. The floor is the opportunity, not the problem.
The move: Start pulling structured wool peacoats now, while they are dead cheap in the bins, GW and elsewhere. Navy and black first. Sit on them through August, then list as the searches start to turn. Or, list now if you aren’t optimizing for sell-through-rate. We are calling this one before the ramp up. Newsletter subs get the data first!

Watching, not calling.
The Samba is spiking again…But it’s risky.

Google search data shows Adidas Samba OG at 201,000 searches a month, up from 33,100 a year ago. That is the kind of number that usually starts a sourcing call. But for now, it’s just a warning.
This same shoe ran up to 368,000 last August, then fell off a cliff to 22,000 by 2 months later (October). Anyone who loaded up at the top ate the collapse. Now it is climbing a second time, and the line has no stable floor to trust. Real momentum, unreliable shape.
The move: If you already have Sambas in the bins, list them into this spike while it is hot. Do not go source a pallet betting the second peak holds. We are watching this one and will report back when the latest data is available.
The Board
Signal 01. Menswear. Men's henleys are loading for fall.
Google search data shows henley shirt at 27,100 searches a month, up 50% from 18,100 a year ago. It has been flat all year, which means the step up already happened and the number is holding. Last fall it went from 22,200 in July to 60,500 by December. This is the pre-ramp floor. Layering buyers are seasonal buyers, and the season is six weeks out. Pull thermal-knit henleys now while they are cheap in the bins.
Signal 02. Menswear. Workwear pants are moving on the men's side.
Google search data shows men's workwear pants at 40,500 searches a month, a huge increase off a small base a year ago. Carpenter and double-knee styles are the buy. Utilitarian styles are in demand. Pull double-knee and carpenter pants, source the sturdy fabric, skip the thin fashion versions.
Signal 03. Footwear. Jelly sandals are still building in peak summer.
Google search data shows jelly sandals at 33,100 searches a month, up 49% year over year. Most summer footwear is fading by late July. This one is still climbing. Buyers want them now, this week. Pull jellies and clear plastic sandals while this window is still open. This is a sell-through-now item, not a hold.

The Receipts
The call we made Issue 001.
We called the summer bag rotation. It ran on schedule.
Four issues back we called raffia bags to peak June through July, with suede dead until September. Here is what happened. Google search data shows raffia bag at 33,100 searches a month in June, its highest reading of the year, holding right through the window we called. If you sourced raffia bags, then you’re selling into the peak right now. Suede stays in the hold pile just a lil’ longer.

And now you know.
